Top 8 Hotels in Surin
Three of the eight hotels previously listed here no longer take a booking. Surin has turned over harder than any beach on the west coast, partly because the beach clubs came down in 2016 and the stretch spent years rebuilding.
What replaced them is stronger. Two international operators arrived, one long-standing property rebranded, and the hillside above the bay now holds much of the interest. Eight below, from Pansea round to the Bang Tao side.
The Surin Phuket

Pansea sits immediately north of Surin and is reached almost entirely through the property, which makes it the quietest swimmable bay on this stretch. Cottages step up a wooded slope under coconut groves, on a plot held since 1982.
Formerly The Chedi, and the rebrand changed the sign rather than the setting. Natural materials, low Thai lines, and a beach club on the sand that runs long past lunch.
For a private bay, and readers who rate seclusion over resort scale.
Twinpalms Surin Beach Phuket

Ninety-seven rooms, 175 metres back from the sand, and a pool that has anchored more long lunches than most restaurants on this coast. Rooms were taken back to the studs in 2020.
Oriental Spoon faces the water, the Wagyu Steakhouse carries a MICHELIN Guide recommendation, and the Pool Bar runs late. Membership of Small Luxury Hotels of the World gives the scale away.
Couples, groups of friends, and anyone whose ideal day ends at a pool bar.
OUTRIGGER Surin Beach Resort

Formerly Manathai Surin, now run by Outrigger, and rated 8.9 across more than 1,200 reviews. Position is the argument: on the sand rather than up the hill from it.
Outrigger brought its Hawaiian service language with it, which shows in the beach programming rather than the decor. Rooms stay contemporary Thai. Surin village and the beach-road eating are on foot.
For readers who want the beach at the door and an international operator behind the desk.
Ayara Hilltops Resort & Spa

Cut into the headland above Surin with the bay laid out below, and adults only, which shapes the atmosphere more than any design decision could.
Suites and pool villas step down the slope so the views clear each other, and the infinity pool is angled at the sunset. A shuttle runs down to the sand, because the position that buys the outlook also puts a hill between you and the water.
Couples and honeymoons wanting the view rather than the beach at the door.
Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Surin Beach

Directly opposite Surin Beach, and built squarely for families in a way little else here is. Up to three pools depending on wing, with water slides, plus a Kids’ World and an arcade.
Three restaurants and bars handle the day, and a full renovation in 2018 brought the rooms to current IHG standard. Crossing the road puts you on the sand, which at Surin is unusual.
Families first, and anyone wanting a known brand standard on this beach.
Mida Grande Resort Phuket

High ground between Surin and Bang Tao, with a rooftop pool that makes the most of sitting above both. Five-star build, family rooms, and sea views from a good share of the keys.
Spa, sauna, fitness centre and sun terrace fill the wellness side, with a pool bar and coffee shop for the rest of the day. Shuttles head to both beaches, and the walk down to Surin takes about fifteen minutes.
Families and longer stays wanting scale and a shuttle rather than beachfront pricing.
The Chava Resort

Serviced apartments rather than hotel rooms, five minutes on foot from the sand, with full kitchens, dining areas and private balconies. Master bathrooms carry bathtubs, which sounds minor until a long stay.
A 35-yard pool runs the length of the property and The Chava Cafe overlooks it, covering Thai, western and cocktails. Tour desk and laundry on site. Thirty minutes from the airport.
For families and long stays wanting space and a kitchen without leaving Surin.
Surintra Boutique Resort

Fifty metres from Surin Beach, which is closer than most things on this coast get without charging beachfront rates. Rated 8.8 by recent guests.
An outdoor lap pool sits inside tropical planting with lounge chairs down one side. Rooms run spacious and air-conditioned in dark wood, facing either the pool or the greenery. Shopping streets and restaurants are walkable, and the airport is forty minutes.
Couples and solo travellers who want Surin on foot at a mid-range rate.
Booking notes
Surin prices below Bang Tao and Kamala for comparable standard, the quiet advantage of a beach that spent years out of fashion. Hillside properties run well under beachfront here and the shuttles make that gap worth taking. Green season through October is when the suites at Ayara and The Surin come within reach.
